Miss Plus America 2003 — Ambassador for Binge Eating Disorder Association

Binge Eating Disorder Association (BEDA) was proud to announce that Chenese Lewis has joined the association as official ambassador to help in its mission to promote positive body image and intensify awareness of binge eating disorder.
Bullying, teasing, and discrimination are perpetuating everywhere by virtue of size or weight. This beauty bias affects the physical and psychological health of an individual that may lead to eating disorder. Sadly, the incidence of eating disorder in the United States is increasing, and the most common case is binge eating.
“BEDA’s members are struggling with humiliation and embarrassment around their weight or are dangerously restricting food intake after bingeing in order to maintain a weight they deem suitable. BEDA is creating a community to support recovery and acceptance in a manner that is safe, builds self-esteem and tears down the walls of shame” states Chevese Turner, BEDA founder and chief executive officer.
No doubt, Chenese Lewis is a perfect choice to represent the association. She is not just best known as an actress, plus size model and beauty queen. She is also a most sought after host, keynote speaker, expert commentator, and positive body image and self-esteem expert and advocate. She was the first woman crowned Miss Plus America in 2003 and was also crowned as Miss Plus America Lifetime for her excellent performance in positive body image or size/self acceptance advocacy. She is the incumbent President of the Hollywood Chapter of the National Organization for Women and the creator/producer of a local event for Hollywood NOW’s Love Your Body Day Celebration.
