Latasha Haskins Crowned Miss Plus America 2010
July 30, 2010 2 CommentsLatasha Haskins, the Miss Washington Plus 2008 has grabbed the most coveted crown of Miss Plus America 2010. Her
love for people, modeling and public speaking gave her the drive to join the pageantry.
The Washington State National American Miss Pageant in the fall of 2007 gave her the first exposure to pageantry as a judge. She was inspired and motivated by the young contestants’ purpose and desire to impact the communities. Thus, she researched to find a pageantry for her, and through Google she learned about the Miss Plus America Pageant. She signed up and became the Miss Washington Plus America 2008.
She had also competed in the mainstream pageant where she became the first plus sized finalist at the 2009 MS America Pageant. The 2010 Miss Plus America Pageant was her third attempt in the pageantry where she triumphantly grabbed the national title and crowned as the Miss Plus America 2010.
This 29-year old beauty queen is a mother, model and motivator. She is a leader and a role model serving her community through several organizations like Seattle Dream Center and Ruby Room Seattle. She is a most sought after motivational speaker, emcee and hostess for events, galas, community festivals and religious conferences.
She is a signed plus-size model for Betty Jean Couture, Macy’s and Sanmar. She was featured as the cover girl in the April 2007 SKORCH Magazine.
While educating people in the area of positive body image, she also has a strong personal conviction in empowering single mothers to boost their confidence to parent. She is successfully raising two sons, and based on her own personal experience and biblical principle (Romans 12:2) she coined the acronym S.P.A.C.E. that stands for ‘Single Parents Achieving Confidence and Excellence’.
The reigning Miss Plus America is a woman of God that expresses her faith through service. The pageantry has opened doors of opportunities for her to do more things for the community and to be an influence to others. It is looked forward that her victory in the Miss Plus America brings her to greater heights for effective and better service to others, and to be an inspiration to many, especially the plus sized community and the single parents.:-)

Thank you for publishing such a well written piece on my recent accomplishment! The only thing is, I was the first plus-size finalist to compete in the 2009 MS America (ages 26+) Pageant not Miss America.
Thank you again!
