IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel had previously released two short poetic Marc DePaola films dedicated to curvy women, both starred by the top Brazilian model Fluvia Lacerda. The first film was “16” saying that beauty is not confined to a specific size or shape. The second film was “Being You Is Being Beautiful” reminding women that beauty comes in all sizes, shapes and forms.
At the recently concluded Full Figured Fashion Week held in Los Angeles, IGIGI had again presented, in a runway finale, another Marc DePaola film “I Am Beautiful” starring plus size model Rosie Mercado, the Face of Full Figured Fashion Week. The title itself, “I Am Beautiful” clearly speaks the film’s message of empowerment and self-acceptance for all women. In the film Ms. Mercado declared herself as a very beautiful, very powerful and above all a very happy person, not allowing other people to intimidate and put her down.
The three films mentioned are effective visual tools to empower women to fight versus fat discrimination, to have full confidence in their own skin, and to appreciate their natural gift of beauty.
