Unleashing the power in you, The International Fuller Woman Expo returns this year to Detroit for a day full of inspiration, motivation and celebration of the International “Fuller Woman”, a woman that lives unapologetic of who she and how she looks and wants to empower others to do the same. The Fuller Woman Expo is headed by U.S. Director and Co-Founder of The Fuller Woman Network, Cassandra Jones-McBryde.
The Fuller Woman Expo brings together businesses and loyal customers from across the world who share the event’s mission of positive imagery and social relevance in today’s society. Here’s the highlights for the 2011 Expo:
1. The Speakers.
Kim Coles.
The International Fuller Woman Expo is proud to announce the return of talk show host, comedian and actress Ms. Kim Coles as the keynote speaker. She is best known for her portrayal of Sinclair on the hit television show, “Living Single”, a role that garnered her 4 NAACP Image award nominations. Ms. Coles is the host of the popular game show “Pay it Forward” on BET, making her the 1st African American Woman to ever host a primetime game show.
Kim is ever evolving. In January, she let go of her trademark braids she has had for 20 years to go all natural! This decision to reveal her natural locks tranformed her in ways of thinking and being. She will speak about her new found freedom that has made her appreciate who she is even more and how you can find the courage to love your authentic self !
DeLores Pressley
DeLores Pressly was the keynote speaker in 2009. She is back to grace this year’s event. She is a motivational Speaker, Founder and Principal of DeLores Pressley Worldwide and the BornSuccessful Institute. She always brings an impressive blend of personal and professional experience to her presentations that allow her to connect with her audience, inspiring and energizing them to take their confidence and success to the next level.
Having spent 27 years teaching elementary school students, DeLores knows a thing or two about inspiring others to achieve their potential. During her teaching tenure, she also founded a successful modeling agency for plus-sized women. The experience helped her find the confidence she needed to succeed and served as a foundational experience for DeLores Pressley Worldwide. DeLores has appeared on every major TV network: ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX, including America’s top shows OPRAH and Entertainment Tonight. She has been profilee and quoted in national publications; Glamour, New York Daily News, Ebony, Chicago Tribune, First for Women, Chicago Sun Times, Essence and People magazine. She has spoken to more than more than 100,000 people in over 60 major cities and countries.
2. Plus Modeling 101. As an aspiring model, you want to know all there is to know to make it in the industry. Learn the fundamentals from industry professionals such as Brand Management, challenges facing plus models today and how to overcome them, plus model etiquette, and more.

4. Curvy Café. New this year is the “Curvy Café” where you can partake some great food in between all the networking and empowerment you will be doing.
5. Curves on Motion Fashion Showcase will be highlightig innovative, ready to wear fashions from around the world. The show presents a showcase exploding with entertainment and fashion for your curves!!

5. The Evolution of the Revolution” panel discussion. Every year the Fuller Woman Expo discusses ways to elevate the plus community. This year’s topic is “Plus Positivity In A Negative Society”.
The 2011 International Fuller Woman Expo takes place at the Detroit Historical Museum in Downtown Detroit on Saturday, September 10. Doors will open at 11am to the general public and will end at 6pm.
