Big Beautiful Women Pageant

The 11th Annual Big Beautiful Women Pageant was held last August this year at Renaissance Hotel in Philadelphia.  The pageant 11th Annual Big Beautiful Women Pageant Winner Chiquita McKenzie Big Beautiful Women Pageantshowcased ten of the finest plus plus size women from across the US where they exuded their confidence in different competition categories that include lingerie, talent, formal wear, and interview.

Chiquita McKenzie from Maryland won the crown for the prestigious title Queen of the Big Beautiful Women Pageant for 2010.  Ms Mckenzie’s  wish is to continue to be an encouragement to other plus size people.

A production of Wilkes Production, Big Beautiful Women Pageant is a talent competition for plus size women.  It is designed to show the public that  full figured women can be as pretty, intelligent, talented, sexy, elegant and look good in their choice of clothing  as what society has labeled the slender model types.

The pageant is now accepting contestant applications for their 12th annual BBWP.  Contestant must be sincere in promoting the plus size beauty, and they should possess the following qualifications: 1) Be at least size 14 or above; 2) Be 18 years old or older; and 3) Be willing to promote full figured beauty.

Full Figured Fashion Week Announced LA Event Schedule

The Full Figured Fashion Week has officially announced the schedule for LA event  on October 28-30, 2010 at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, 2025 Avenue of Stars, Los Angeles, CA.  Just like in the past FFFWeek LA Event Schedule Full Figured Fashion Week Announced LA Event Scheduletwo events held in the Big Apple, the LA event will surely be a three-day weekend full of fashion, and full of information, empowerment and inspiration through panel discussions.

The event will be dazzled with full-scale fashion showcase where attendees can take advantage of designer clothing at the Designer Trunk Sale and Shopping Event, and enjoy a finale runway event showcasing the latest designs of the hottest, brightest, and freshest talent in the plus size fashion.  FFFWeek Executive Producer, Gwendolyn DeVoe says, “….. This is a celebration of curvy bodies, so we’re looking for designers who know how to show them off best.  We want designs that will accentuate, not hide, our plus-sized bodies.”

The LA fashion celebration will kick off with a silent auction charity event, “Curves for a Cure: A Celebration of Pink” to raise funds for cancer research in line with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the L.A. Komen for a Cure Foundation.

If you are an aspiring model, or starting a career as a plus model you can learn from people of authorities in the plus modeling through the “New and Aspiring Models Panel Discussion/Seminar” slated during the event.

The Voluptuous Woman Company brings to you “The PLUS Side of Business” panel discussion where you will learn from different group of business owners the secrets to a successful business that service the plus size woman/man.

FFFWeek is not complete without the traditional panel discussion, “The State of the Curvy Community”.  Moderating the discussion is Chenese Lewis who is a famous actress, Miss Plus America 2003, motivational speaker, plus size model,  media spokesperson, and President of the National Organization for Women Hollywood Chapter.

OneStopPlus.com Spring 2011 Runway Show: A Milestone For Plus Size Fashion

Plus Size Retailer OneStopPlus.com conquered the runway during the  New York Fashion Week through a plus size fashion show that took place last OneStopPlus.com Spring 2011 Runway Show OneStopPlus.com Spring 2011 Runway Show: A Milestone For Plus Size Fashion September 15, 2010 at the Atrium in Frederick P. Rose Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center.  The first ever plus size fashion show  held in the history of New York Fashion Week was entitled Belle Epoque that showcased OSP’s Spring 2011 Collection composed of four diverse fashion forward looks:  Guilded Shine, Cargo Femme, Ethereal Denim, Acquatica Lace and Artisan Drape. Top models were featured during the show that includes Toccara Jones, Lizzie Miller, and Ashley Graham.

Enjoying the show at the audience were prominent personalities in the world of entertainment, Oscar nominee Gabourey Sibide and the ABC Family TV Show Huge star Nikki Blonsky.

The OneStopPlus.com Spring 2011 Runway Show marks another milestone in the history of plus size fashion community.

Today, I have this feeling of elation in my heart because the Plus Size Advocate has grabbed a spot in the Top 40 Plus Size Fashion Blogs on the Web for 2010. No word can describe the appreciation and honor for the Plus Size Advocate to have been given this recognition.  This makes me think that through our blogs that address the different issues and concerns affecting the full figured women of today:  from plus size fashion, to plus size events, to plus size celebrities, to plus size politics, etc., Plus Size Advocate somehow was able to send the message across for size acceptance, woman empowerment, and positive body imagery.
