As a plus-size advocate, I salute the founders, organizers, and all the people behind the Miss Plus America Pageant.  They have opened an avenue to break the traditional mainstream beauty pageant like Miss America that is exclusively for the stick-thin women.  With the anti-fat rhetoric that is getting more virulent, Miss Plus America is the best venue to draw attention to what beauty should be all about.

Coronet Productions, LLC, an event production company, initiated this alternative pageant because they believe in healthy competition, however difficult, that promotes individuality, confidence and overall achievement among all contestants.  They are devoted in the promotion of the sophisticated, ambitious, responsible and community service oriented full-figured teens and women of the new millennium.  They believe that all women are beautiful, inside and out and deserve a chance to promote those causes closest to their heart with a title worthy of her representation.  The Miss Plus America Pageant System is an organization devoted to celebrating the essence of the full-figured woman. A woman with ambition, their Miss Plus America is a woman with uncompromising morals and an aspiration to serve her community through volunteerism, who shines on stage and is the perfect representation of poise and grace.

Coronet Productions was co-founded by Christian women.  They are Beverly Phillips, the Executive Producer and her daughter, Melissa Stamper, the Executive Director.  Ms. Philipps is a thirty-year veteranin pageant industry whose dynamic involvement include clothing design, coaching contestants, judging, promoting national pageants and delegates alike.  She is also an accomplished writer.  Her credits include publication in the LA Times as well as many national magazines and on-line productions.  For thirty-five years she has been into promotions, public relations, marketing and advertising in all media  (radio, television and newspaper).

Ms. Stamper is a seasoned  performer.  Her first stage performance was at the age of 4 and was hooked since then.  At age seven she began singing and acting and has registered  many hours on-stage and in television and recording studios.  Her pride includes producing and hosting her own television program, composing and singing advertising jingles and performing live from coast to coast.  She has recorded three albums and was chosen as the lead vocalist in the “Aragon Gold” project, an animated rock opera.  Melissa is very active in the present pageant community as a modeling coach and pageant judge.  She coached her first national winner at the age of ten.  Her achievements have instilled in her a quest for more and greater excellence.

Started in 2003, Miss Plus America Pageant is a pageant system dedicated tothe personal development of the plus-sized community-oriented teens and women.
