Maury at the “The Big Girl Blog” brought the issue of eating too much at home up on one of her recent posts. I can relate to the topic and I thought I am probably not alone.
Maury says when she’s at work she don’t have access to junk food nor does she have time to overeat but has problems on her day off when she can” hang out with her refrigerator”. She concludes that;
“I think my normal stay-at-home-and-eat behavior is based on boredom and I really don’t want to fall into those patterns today, so I’m planning to stay out of the house as much as possible.”
I have a similar experience but with a twist. I eat a very small brunch on busy days and don’t eat anything else until I get home around 7 or 8 pm, then the parties on between me and the fridge. Strangely enough I don’t think much about food while I’m working but I can’t keep it out of my mind once I get home? So it seems that an active lifestyle can help you stay on track but ya gotta come home sometimes.
Since the problem happens when I get home, then maybe the key is to limit my access to junk foods that I keep in stock so that when I do have that seemingly uncontrollable appetite, at least my choices will be healthier ones. Don’t know how well my theory woks in practice because sometimes I’m just not in the mood for “healthy food”.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this issue. Do you experience eating too much at home?
