Tri Delta, The Center for Living, Learning and Leading, and many other generous partners sponsors the 3rd Annual Fat Talk Free Week, a viral campaign geared towards raising the awareness of the damaging impact of “fat talk” and the “thin ideal” on today’s women. This year’s End Fat Talk Week shall take place on October 18 to 22, 2010.

Hollywood NOW celebrates the 5th Annual Hollywood NOW Love Your Body Day in West Hollywood on October 22-24, 2010. This year’s celebrity host is America’s Next Top Model Whitney Thompson. She will particularly host the Love Your Body Day festival slated on Saturday, October 23rd from 12-4 in the afternoon at West Hollywood Park Auditorium at 647 N. San Vicente in West Hollywood. Admission is free and open to the community.

Dead Serious News in its July 13, 2010 issue reported that NAAFA has made a disclosure that it has been lobbying members of Congress to amend the United States Constitution to provide special rights to fat people. Weight or size discrimination is growing rapidly everywhere – in the workplace, education system, and healthcare system. This reality calls for the legislators to give serious consideration to the proposed constitutional amendment that will afford protection and special rights to the majority of American population that belongs to overweight or obese.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has issued an executive order banning sodas, sports drinks, artificially flavored water and juice with added sweeteners on vending machines in public places. The executive order was issued few months ago, but the effect of its impact has started to be felt only last week.
