Society is so focused on approving much smaller bodies and because of this a lot of women suffered from negative body image. Given the mindset that thin is beautiful, they forget to realize that size is not a limitation on what they can do on their lives and on what they can offer to the world. Our limitation to do things is not based on size. It is based on what we believe and feel about ourselves.

What we see in Hollywood, print and tv ads that portray extremely thin and extremely made over talents and models is not a real life. If we take them as our standard of being beautiful, then we can never live a happy life. Realistically happiness and fulfillment can never be based on size. Living proof of that you can see countless of happy, successful and fulfilled curvy women.

From August 8th to 21st , the campaign dubbed as “Lingerie Loves Your Curves” seeks participants from across the globe to blog topics about size-acceptance to combat industries that make money from women’s lack of self-esteem.

About Curves takes the lead in this blogging campaign initiative because:

Women are bombarded every day with messages that they are not beautiful enough. About Curves is fighting back with a “Lingerie Loves Your Curves” charity drive. This two-week “blogathon” event is dedicated to size acceptance and self-acceptance based on the philosophy of health at every size. Let’s fight back against industries that make money from women’s lack of self-esteem, and share our stories so that we can help empower women everywhere. Let’s celebrate our curves!

If you’re a blogger, the blogathon event seeks you to blog your own experiences on size acceptance and self-esteem and help raise society’s level of awareness on these issues.  The event also aims to raise money for the promotion of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending size discrimination in all of its forms.

Queen Latifah Is Unveiling Her New Lifestyle Brand Called The Queen Collection On HSN

Celebrity turned designer, Queen Latifah comes out with a clothing line to inspire women to find their own personal style that they feel are good at them.  On August 27th, she is debuting her new fashion line called the Queen Collection. Aside from apparel, her line  also include  handbags, and other accessories.

Queen Latifah is partnering with America’s Home Shopping Network to release her new lifestyle brand. She says, “I partnered with HSN because it’s the ideal platform to share my story and the stories of women who inspired me. I hope to instill confidence in hundreds of thousands of women across the country.” Following the debut of her clothing line, she will also launch her hair extension line on the network in September.

With a wide range of sizes, the Queen Collection caters to real women – the full figured or curvaceous women,  but it will not be labeled as “plus size”  as what Queen Latifah wishes. “Plus-size’ is a word we need to bury at this point … I wanted to make something size two and up. The truth is, we all would like to wear the same clothes. We all want to wear beautiful, fly clothes no matter what size you are, and so for me it was important to match with a company that understood and respected that ideal”, Queen Latifah says.

From its inception, Full Figured Fashion Week continues to provide an opportunity for new and emerging plus size designers to introduce their collections to a wider audience. Likewise it provides the plus size community more and better options to meet their fashion requirements.

Watch out for the new plus size clothing designer coming into the plus size contemporary designer scene who will be joining the Full Figured Fashion Week 2011. From Australia, Evie Foster is coming to New York to launch her debut collection “New York State of Mind” during the Full Figured Fashion Week on the 18th of June, to shoot her launch campaign, and to look for the face of Evie Foster. The designer aims to concentrate on the US market.

Who is EVIE FOSTER?

Evie Foster is a curvy woman on a mission. She is 40 something, a mother and a proud new grandmother.

She has been in the RAAF, a personal assistant, a personal development and modelling teacher, and a business development executive. And now, Evie is following her passion, to provide plus size women with beautiful choices in fashion. Evie was once one of Brisbane’s most successful plus size models and, every now and then, you will still see her rockin’ it on a runway or gracing the pages of a catalogue. She describes her life as ‘never a dull moment’ and has the tenacity, strength, style and savvy needed to succeed in this industry.

Evie has always been an advocate for the empowerment of women and this is just another avenue through which she is determined to make a difference. Evie will not only be creating fabulous clothing, but will be working hard at smashing the stigma attached to the words PLUS SIZE. Evie says of plus size women – “we are fat, not blind and we want fashion that fits, is comfortable, has a bit of sexy about it, and makes us feel like a goddess when we are wearing it”.
