2010 Miss Plus Diva Pageant and Conference Slated in Baltimore

The Miss Plus Diva teams up with The Plus Academy and Poprah for the ‘2010 Miss Plus Diva Pageant and Conference’ slated on August 6-7, 2010 at the Best Western Hotel and Conference Center, Baltimore, MD.

The Plus Academy is a creation of Ms. Gwendolyn Devoe under the DeVoe Signature Events, the same event organizer  that organized the Full Figured Fashion Week, the biggest fashion event of the year held in New York last June.  The Plus Academy is NYC’s leading model training and development program, exclusively for plus size women.  Since 1999, it has provided unsurpassed training and guidance, helping to launch the careers of several plus models, many of whom have appeared in print ads, runway showcases, television  programs, online magazines, designer showcases, pageants and more.

Miss Plus Diva through The Plus Academy, equips the contestants with the necessary training and preparation for the competition and gives them the motivation to walk with full confidence on the runways and even on their everyday life.

Poprah of VH1’s “I Want to Work for Diddy” is a perfect choice to host  the event.  She is proud in her plus sized figure.  Her life is an affirmation that success is not determined by size.   This pride of Baltimore is a locally and internationally known television personality, recording artist, writer and producer.  Certainly, she is an encouragement and an inspiration to the women of Miss Plus Diva.

Consistent with its mission to encourage plus size girls and empower women to embrace their beauty and allow their personalities and creativity to shine, Miss Plus Diva has created a unique pageant with divisions for women ages 13 and up who wear a size 12 and above to empower them and instill a sense of inclusion in the world of beauty, fashion, and pageantry. Divisions include Miss Plus Diva for ages 13-18, Miss Plus Diva ages 19-24 and Plus Diva Elite ages 25 and up.

Submission of application to become a contestant in this life changing experience is still open via online registration.  Deadline to enter is on July 31, 2010 and the competition will be on August 6-7, 2010.

Women empowerment is about the total well being of a person enabling him/her to speak up for his/her rights, welfare and protection. Part of the  goal  of Miss Plus Diva is to make a difference in the lives of others by partnering with the National Domestic Violence Hotline (NDVH) to raise awareness, raise funds, and promote the empowerment of abused women.   Miss Plus Diva commits twenty five percent of all the proceeds of the pageant and conference to NDVH.   By supporting Miss Plus Diva you likewise support NDVH.
